There was once a prince who acted strangely in that
He thought life was stupid and it was for him so
He made up a world in which he liked the things we liked
But he had different reasons why he liked them
He liked butter for its color
He would order toast and color
Waitresses, confused would utter
Sir, I've never heard of toast and color
He'd get angry and begin to choke them
The law would come, and they'd arrest and book him
So his life was a mess of trouble
Still he kept it up
He had dogs, a hundred Cocker Spaniels and he
Called them panties, 'cause they did that mostly, and he
Did not care at all if they would bark and fetch sticks
Run and jump, roll over, and play dead tricks
No, he liked them only for their panting
So he would run them ragged, but one day they got fed up
And chased the prince right up against the fence
And the prince was eaten by his panties
~Song lyrics by Mason Williams~
About a hundred years ago, I had the Mason Williams Phonograph Record. I'm sure I bought it for "Classical Gas." But it's this little ditty that I remember most.

Funny lyrics Carla. :-) I searched on YouTube for Classical Gas by Mason Williams and found several video's. My favorite was the one made in 1968. I couldn't find The song "The Prince's Panties", have you?
Herman, I couldn't find "The Prince's Panties" either. Only the song lyrics. But yes, there are several videos for "Classical Gas."
I did not realize this was the flip side to Classical Gas! Heh!
I laughed at the video of Hugh Laurie and his comedy partner. I think I rather like him better in this role. I've only known him from House and that is certainly very serious.
He is excellent in House but I can see why so many people have a hard time with him in that role after knowing his comedy routines.
Take care.
Russell, for some reason, the album was titled "The Mason Williams Phonograph Record." So "Classical Gas" and "The Prince's Panties" are just two of the songs on that album. I just don't remember any of the other ones.
Hugh Laurie has a lot of talent. So glad your friend, Jo, introduced me to this side of him.
Carla, that was wonderful...! Omigoodness.
"And the prince was eaten by his panties."
Thanks, Jo!
This is hilarious!! :-)
Love the lyrics, "Classical Gas", and I especially love cocker spaniels! (Forever now known as "panties."
And never mistreat your panties!
